Success Stories: Kathy King

by admin on May 12, 2010

Kathy King was like most people trying every diet and shortcut when I first met her in 2007. She was preparing for her class reunion on a fad diet to fit into her perfect dress. To our success, she lost 20 lbs in 2 months to become the life of the party. Multiple diets and years later, Kathy would notice the weight gain back and then some only to find that there was nothing like the real thing (a continuous workout regimen with a balanced, normal everyday diet that she can do for the rest of her life ). When we met again in December 2009, Kathy was fed up with her yoyo weight, the trendy diets, and ready to do it the old fashioned way. And here we are, fifty pounds lighter!!!!

What motivated you to get started with a regular workout routine?
I was tired of being overweight. I have been a yoyo dieter for years, losing only to gain it all back. It was time to make a permanent change.

How long did it take to achieve your goal?
I haven’t achieved it yet, but I’m only 25lbs away. :0)

What was the major obstacle you faced getting stated, and how did you move past it?
Time was my biggest obstacle. Finding the time between home, work, and working out was difficult, but I decided to make myself a priority, and it has worked out.

How much overall have you lost?
I started at 224lbs, and I have lost 48 pounds to date.

What is your typical breakfast/lunch/dinner?
Breakfast
1 Egg, (boiled or scrambled) 2sl Turkey Bacon, 1 slice Dark Rye Bread, Banana

Lunch
6oz of Chicken Breast, Small Salad, 2Tbsp Reduced Salad Dressing, I Fruit

Dinner
5oz of Broiled Salmon, 1 cup Red Potatoes, 1 cup Steamed Broccoli

And a couple of snacks, usually almonds and low fat cheese with wheat crackers, or a protein drink.

Tell us a little about your eating habits before and what you’ve used to substitute some of the cravings?
I tried to eat a balanced diet, but always give in to fast foods and sweets. French fries, potato chips and twizzlers were some of my favorites. I would try to eat these foods in moderation, but I realized the more I ate them the more I craved them, especially the sweets, so I made a huge decision. I gave up all processed sugars. No diet drinks, no sugar substitutes, no sugar free gum, nothing, and an amazing thing happened. My cravings went away completely. I now enjoy the natural sweetness of fruits. It’s great.

How often did you workout before? And how often do you workout now?
Once or twice a week. I would start working out, but I would always stop. Now I’m working out 5-6 days a week.

What has kept you motivated?
I’m seeing the weight coming off.  I’m fitting back into my clothes, and I have an awesome trainer.  He pushes me to do exercise I never ever thought I would be able to do.

Any tips or tricks you want to share?
Never say you’re on a diet. To say you’re on a diet means at some point it will come to an end, and we all know what that means. The weight is definitely coming back. Tell yourself always” This is the way you must eat in order to maintain all your hard work”.

What is your next goal?
My next goal is run a half marathon in my newly thin body, and stay committed to my workout routine.

How has fitness affected your everyday life?
Wow, in so many ways. I have tons of energy, I sleep better, but overall I just   feel great.

Have a Heart – February Focus

Have a Heart – Bring a Friend to Workout For Free

Attention All Clients: We are running a special in February for your friends and family: invite a friend to come workout with you for a week free. You, Zeno, and your friend — for a week! So Have a Heart and invite your friend.

Share this on Facebook to see which of your friends want to work out for a week!

Our hope is that when your friend works out with you, they will love it so much they will start their own journey towards the balanced and healthy lifestyle we advocate. If they’re on the edge, or not even interested at all — they’ll learn the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Give them a chance to see exactly what’s it’s all about and what we do and how we get down

Zeno

Maybe this will be the driving force that gets them in the door to the gym and say “you know what, I’m ready to start getting healthy, let’s do this!”

“I like to be the highlight of your day when you workout, and I hope that you’ll share the experiences that we have when we workout with your friends and give them a chance to see exactly what it’s all about and what we do and how we get down.” – Zeno.

Zeno on Fad Diets

by admin on January 26, 2010

Fad Diets are just that: a fad or a phase in your life. And when it comes down to having a healthy lifestyle, it’s not just about a diet, but having a healthy lifestyle in balance with everything that you’re doing.

It’s not about a diet; it’s about a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

You need something that is life-long, not just when you’re working out with a trainer. So we want to try and customize everything that you’re eating and teach you how to eat and what you need to be eating — it’s something you can take with you.

Everybody knows the basics — stay away from red meat and eat chicken, turkey, seafood, and green vegetables. The real success comes from us customizing a meal plan for the individual and getting the correct caloric intake and at the same time have the caloric expenditure as well. They have to burn a set amount of calories on a daily or weekly basis. So it’s all different, it all depends on the individual.

Contact Zeno today to get your calories in check!

On choosing personal training as a career

Alfred Zeno

Alfred Zeno

Personal training lets you build up an individual; not necessarily the physical aspect, but you build up a person’s self esteem. Personal training is a corner stone for any type of success that you want.

Along with the social aspect of the business, meeting new people, hearing about different things — the diversity of the training — just being able to help build a person from the inside out.

On keeping workouts fresh and updated

I love being able to help build a person from the inside out

A lot of times its just something as simple as combining two different exercises together. The main thing is, you want to keep it fresh because that’s what’s going to keep people motivated.

I try to do my training like I would want to be trained. I know most people, if they come in and the routine is always the same and gets to be robotic, it discourages them.

Make 2010 the year you live the healthy, balanced lifestyle you deserve. Contact us today to learn more!

Studies show that the most common New Year’s Resolutions are losing weight, exercising more, and quitting smoking. More Info

One way you can keep your resolution to be healthier is to be held accountable. Having a personal training regimen helps you maintain a schedule.
